Program Description:

​

The Faculty Cohort Workshop is an on-going project led by the Learning Experience Design (LED) department. The program invites faculty who are seeking design assistance for a variety of online types of courses such as: flipped, blended, networked, or multi-model. The faculty participant attends an initial workshop and then begins a weekly meeting with an instructional designer and is given continued support from instructional support specialists, media specialists, graphic specialists and instructional technologists. The program started in 2014 and has been on-going through-out the year every year since then.

Evaluation Goals:

​

The goal of the evaluation is to enable the Learning Experience Design staff to provide the most effective professional development and instructional design support for for the design or redesign and development of courses for online, hybrid, blended, flipped, networked, tech-enhanced traditional and multi-modal classrooms.

The scope of this goal:

  • To determine the extent to which past participants in the cohort process feel that the experience had a positive affect on their teaching and student learning

  • To determine the extent to which the professional development structuring the course design or redesign and development projects was effective and valuable for the faculty participating

  • To determine if the instructional design support for the faculty developing the courses through the cohort experience was effective and valuable for the faculty participating

 

Feasibility of My Course Project:

​

I currently work in the Networked Learning Initiatives (NLI) department (which is under the same umbrella (Technology-enhanced Learning and Online Strategies) as the LED department  and have been given access to all the data from the past 2 years. Data has been collected already, but I I should be able to collect new data for this project as well. There is a need for this ongoing program to be evaluated and I have an interest in this area because it focuses on faculty development and online learning. There is not any time or scope conflicts with this project. The client understands this evaluation course and that it is an entire semester.
